How to navigate Thanksgiving on a weight loss journey

Look, you've been working hard on losing weight and have had success, but aren't quite where you want to be yet. Now, it's the holidays and you're nervous. You don't want all your hard work to go down the drain. I get it.

This isn't going to be a long post. Let me simplify how you can stay on track, but still enjoy the holiday season's offerings.

  1. Plan out your day of eating, but not to a "T". On the big day, I would focus on this: Get in your protein early and focus on more of the higher-protein foods throughout the day, too. Focus on eating fruits and veg as always, but don't be afraid to eat that piece of pie or enjoy your grandmother's cookies. One day of going over your calories isn't going to undo months of hard work. The following day, however, get right back into your program.

  2. Plan out your workouts for the week if you don't already do this. Maybe you plan for Thanksgiving day to be your rest day or you plan to get your workout in early before all the excitement starts. Do whichever works best for you to keep your workouts on track.

  3. Limit alcohol. Completely avoid it if it causes you other problems.

  4. Please just enjoy being around family and friends. One day of indulging isn't going to ruin your success thus far.

Like I said, keep it simple. Don't overcomplicate it. This goes for most things in life, too.

That's it for this week. Have a great Thanksgiving <3
